Weather

Cold

Conditions

Heavy

Last day of skiing in Park City in 2001. When we got up it had been snowing all night; even at the lower elevation of Kimball Junction there was plenty of fresh snow.

By now we were pretty much into a routine and we headed for Deer Valley, a good parking spot, a good breakfast and Sue captured her table in the corner of the lounge to work on her reports.
We headed over to Empire Canyon for a couple of runs. Visibility was very flat and it was still trying to slow.

The snow was pretty heavy and we got pretty cold, so decided to make our way back to the base area for a warm mid morning drink

Everywhere we went skiing was hard work.

After the coffee break, Chris stayed down at the base area while I headed back towards Bald Mountain for a couple of runs off Wasatch Express. Rattler in particular was hard work with soft wet snow not quite covering up all the moguls.

Two runs were enough and I headed back to the base for lunch via Big Stick.
As on the three previous days we had lunch in Snow Park lodge.

Skiing all together after lunch

After lunch, the weather brightened up just a little. Sue (and teddy) joined us and we had three runs down Wide West, two from the lift in centre of the run, Snowflake and one from the slightly shorter lift to the edge of the run, Burns.

Chris and I then headed up the mountain for a final cruise around, hitting all the summits and talking relatively easy runs.

  • Carpenter to the top of Bald Eagle Mountain
  • Red Cloud and Northside to the top of Flgastaff Mountain
  • Empire to the top of Empire Canyon
  • Ruby and Wasatch to the top of Bald Mountain
  • Crown Point for access the runs down to Jordanlle
Our last lift of the day, the week and the holiday was the Jordanelle Gondola and after a gentle cruise down Little Stick and Solid Muldoon we called it a day.
